The plan outlines targeted actions to address local challenges such as family violence, food insecurity, mental health and access to services, while promoting equity, inclusion and sustainability.
Key initiatives include expanding health promotion programs, improving transport access, supporting diverse communities, enhancing emergency preparedness and investing in infrastructure that supports active living and climate resilience.
It also includes delivering youth and community events and programs, connecting with schools, building community leadership, collaborating on community health and safety initiatives and supporting awareness initiatives.
Moira Shire Council chair administrator Graeme Emonson said the plan created a strong pathway to a healthier, more connected community.
“This plan outlines a whole-of-community approach, which is essential for us in continuing to build a shire where everyone has access to the tools and support to help them thrive,” Dr Emonson said.
“We know that health and wellbeing is shaped by more than just access to healthcare. It’s also about feeling safe, being connected, having access to nutritious food, clean environments and inclusive spaces.
“This plan helps us identify gaps and priorities and sets a roadmap to proactively tackle issues that are impacting our communities.”
The plan has been developed following extensive community and stakeholder consultation and is centred around partnerships with local organisations.
"We have worked with a large number of partner agencies and community organisations to create this plan,” Dr Emonson said.
“We look forward to working with them to create lasting, sustainable, positive change that benefits all residents, from our youngest to our most senior community members.”
The plan will be implemented over the next four years, with regular monitoring and reporting to ensure progress and accountability.
