Taking on Murray Netball League heavyweight Moama is a tough task on any given weekend. But after the Magpies went down to Rumbalara in round 16, they were always going to come out with a point to prove against Barooga on Saturday.

Despite the best efforts of the Hawks, Moama was able to run away with an 81-18 victory, but Barooga playing coach Sharni Hazelman was happy with the way her troops approached the contest.
‘‘Moama are certainly one of the best sides in the competition and they were really a class above,’’ Hazelman said.
‘‘To the girls’ credit we never gave up and kept trying to fight, we actually had quite a bit of the ball but we just didn’t capitalise on our opportunities. And then when Moama get the ball they’re just such a quick-scoring side.’’
Hazelman was among her side’s better performers, along with A-grade debutant Lilly Brooks.
‘‘Lilly Brooks made her A-grade debut, she’s still bottom age under-17s,’’ Hazelman said.
‘‘She played as a goaler against some of the best defenders in the competition and really held her own.’’
The Hawks will finish their campaign this weekend against Congupna.
‘‘We haven’t played Congupna yet this season and they’re still fighting for a finals spot,’’ Hazelman said. ‘‘So we’ll just go out there and try to finish the season on a high.’’
