Mr McCurdy said Labor would only accept the need for funding if the ministers in Melbourne came up and saw it with their own eyes.
“The Cobram Football Netball Club is a great club that provides so much for the community, from the youngsters just starting out in their sporting journey to the stalwarts who have been around for decades,” Mr McCurdy said.
“Unfortunately, the clubrooms are in desperate need of an overhaul, and we need the Victorian Government to stump up the cash and support our community.”
Cobram Tigers president Michael Hoban echoed this assessment of the state of the clubrooms.
“There’s been no funding available for us, and plans drawn up over the years have had to be abandoned,” he said.
Mr Hoban said the club had attempted to fund the upgrades, but more money was needed, and frustration among club members and the wider community had set in.
“Upgrades should have been done ages ago,” he said.
“Everyone is getting frustrated.”
Mr McCurdy said he hoped Ms Allan would accept his invitation to visit the area ahead of the state budget.
“I invited the premier to come visit Cobram with me when I was in parliament, and I am optimistic that the premier will want to show her country roots by accepting,” Mr McCurdy said.
“Local advocacy is so important for sports clubs like Cobram FNC, so I will continue to push for much-needed funding in the upcoming state budget.”
