They're all popular choices, but by the end of January, the best laid plans are often forgotten.
So, how can you make meaningful change that sticks?
The team at Intereach were asked for their best advice, and here's what they had to say:
Choose one goal
• Instead of a long list of resolutions, pick one.
• Maybe 2026 is the year you want to be healthier.
• Break it down into little steps – drink more water, eat a few more greens, slap on some sunscreen, take a walk around the block.
• Give yourself a pat on the back every time you do something that contributes to your goal.
Add one thing to your routine
• We all get up in the morning, brush our teeth, get dressed, and get the day started.
• Why not add one thing?
• It could be as simple as some gentle stretches before you get your day started, a few squats while you brush your teeth, or taking a moment to breathe deeply and find a little pocket of calm before you face the day.
• Soon, it will become a habit, and then you can think about adding one more thing.
Make it meaningful and achievable
• If it really matters to you, you’re more likely to follow through.
• Look around for opportunities to support the things you value.
• Maybe it’s taking part in a charity event that’s close to your heart, or supporting something creative by giving a few dollars to a busker. Perhaps you would like to volunteer with an organisation you respect, or consider donating to a charity you admire.
• It doesn’t have to be a big commitment to make a big impact.
Join forces
• Make your goals real by sharing them with friends or family.
• They can be your cheer squad and your coach.
• Together, you can keep each other motivated and on track to achieve your shared goals.
Book it in
• It’s the first of the month. Time to worm the dog, check the engine oil, and tick off a new monthly task that helps you to achieve your 2026 goals.
• Pencil it into your diary, set a reminder on your phone, or stick a Post-it note to your fridge.
• Plan ahead, set aside the time, and do something to make a difference.
Celebrate your successes
• No matter what you do, celebrate the little wins – they add up.
• Sometimes, we don’t give ourselves enough credit for the small steps that contribute to our year-long journey.
• Go easy on yourself. If you don’t achieve everything you set out to, don’t worry, tomorrow’s a new day and a fresh opportunity to try again, change direction, and live life to the fullest.
