All Moira Shire councillors agreed to defer the motion for the proposed discontinuance of the roads at an ordinary council meeting held on July 28.Cr Marie Martin said public notice should be put on hold until the Lake Numurkah masterplan was completed by professional consultants Spiire.
“I'd like council to defer this motion until we get the full report back from Spiire on what's proposed for the lake because there is going to be big changes, and I think we look at this again then,” she said.
The report was expected to be completed in December and would be released for public consultation.
Unused roads from the end of Saxton St, Numurkah, between Russell St and Kinnairds Rd, and a section of government road to the north of the existing island within Lake Numurkah would be assessed.
The discontinuation of the unused roads was originally suggested at a council meeting in 2011, as part of the Lake Numurkah concept plan.
