As Inland Rail progresses work at the Benalla Station precinct is ongoing, and will continue throughout July.
Work being done:
- Demolition of pedestrian underpass on Railway Pl side of rail corridor
- Utility relocations and connections
- Removal of redundant track and signalling infrastructure
- Formation and rail track construction
- Drainage installation
- Construction of a crane pad
- Approved tree and vegetation removal
- Delivery of construction materials.
What can I expect?
- Works 7am-6pm Monday to Friday and 7am-1pm Saturdays
- Extended hours of work, Monday 28 July 5am-8pm
- Closure of the pedestrian underpass between Railway Pl and the station access ramp with a pedestrian detour in place
- Traffic management in some locations where works are occurring close to roads. Reduced speed limits of 40km/h near works
- Nearby residents may experience some noise and vibration during this time and can expect some additional construction workers and vehicles in the area.
Machinery used:
Non-destructive digging truck, excavators, cranes, tippers, earthmoving plant, compaction rollers, elevated work platforms, trucks and support vehicles.
How Inland Rail is managing impacts:
- Pedestrian and vehicle access to station maintained from Mackellar St
- Traffic management and reduced road speeds
- Wayfinding signage in place along pedestrian detour
- Environmental controls will be in place.
Cancellation of works:
Works can sometimes be cancelled at short notice depending on weather and other factors. Should this occur, works will be rescheduled.
