Over the past four years Jameson, now 11, has been asked numerous times to cut off his hair, he has been given nicknames such as ‘Mop’ and he has even been referred to as a girl because of the length of his hair.
Yet this resilient boy has responded to comments with ‘No, I’m a boy.’
He has taken the nicknames on his chin, and when asked to get his haircut responded with, ‘I’ll think about it!’
In recent months, Jameson’s three brothers were getting their haircut and he contemplated getting his done also, but naturally this was a big decision.
Jameson, after a conversation with his mother Briony decided he could use this as an opportunity to raise money for a charity.
Jameson was hoping all those people who over the years were willing to give him money to cut his hair would put their money where their mouths were.
Here we have an 11-year-old who could have been paid to lose his locks and pocket the money for himself but made the selfless decision to, yes, get paid for the chop but give this money to charity.
Tungamah Social Club secretary Monica Brewer spoke with Jameson asking him ‘why the Royal Children's Hospital?’ Jameson said he’s had friends and family that have accessed the hospital and that it’s such an important place for kids.
One of Jameson’s best friends, Lincoln, has been a patient at the children’s hospital on and off for the past four years, and his young cousin Jovie went there as a baby.
This inspiring young man is hoping to raise $500 for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
Jameson, along with mum Briony, approached the Tungamah Social Club asking if it was possible that at their annual Good Friday Appeal he could have his haircut.
Naturally, the social club were on board immediately, recognising what an amazing and generous young man Jamison is.
Jameson’s chop will be happening on Good Friday between 3:30pm and 4pm at the Tungamah Social Club Good Friday Appeal.
The appeal kicks off at the Tungamah Hotel at 11am with a car rally.
The hotel opens at noon with lots on offer including raffles, stalls, jumping castle and free fun for kids.
There are yabby races at 2pm, followed by a ‘goods and services’ auction and then ‘Jameson’s Chop for Charity’.
Come and join in the fun at the Tungamah Hotel. Courtesy bus is available and there is food and drinks all day.
