Local Olympian shooter James Willett is in second place at the Paris Olympics after three qualifying rounds of the Men’s Trap event last night.
With two rounds to go on this evening, Tuesday, July 30, Willett just needs to qualify in the top six shooters for the final.
Shooting a near-perfect three rounds, Willett had only missed one target in the second round, shooting 74 out of a possible 75 after three rounds.
Willett’s mother, Dionne, said any of the top 10 competitors could qualify for the six final positions, where they will shoot off for a medal at around 11.30pm on Tuesday evening, AEST.
With two Olympic Games under his belt, Willett will no doubt draw from his experiences in the Rio and Tokyo Olympics to help him make the final and hopefully vie for a medal.
The last two qualifying rounds of the Men’s Trap will begin at around 5pm today (our time), Tuesday, July 30.
