Every believer has a story to tell of when, and how, they found Jesus.
Our scripture tells us we will find Him when we seek him with all of our hearts.
When I was 12 years old, a girl called Helen invited me to attend church with her family.
I attended for about six weeks, and in that time I heard a young man give his testimony, of how he had seen the light and now knew God was real.
I was impacted by his testimony. A while later I remember going outside on a grey, cloudy day and praying for God to make himself real to me.
I desperately wanted to see the light. Sadly, nothing happened.
For the next 24 years, I continued my search for truth. This included reading books and also delving into new age practices.
It was then, while working at Finley High School, that another lady called Helen spoke to me about Jesus.
It was like all the seeds sown in the past suddenly came to life.
I ran home and searched for a Bible, and read John 3:16.
This time I put my life in God’s hands and asked him to save me.
God had been waiting for me to surrender my life to him.
The next day I went to church and the pastors laid hands on me and prayed.
It was then that I saw a light break forth over my head like fireworks.
The overwhelming love I experienced in that moment brought me to my knees.
The knowledge that God had heard the prayer of that little girl and never forgot it; for me, it was overwhelming.
That was the first day of the rest of my life.
