These works are required ahead of Inland Rail construction starting later this year.
Establishment of project worksite
A project worksite, where worker facilities and plant and materials will be located, is being established within the railway precinct along Hannah St.
Works will include:
- Constructing a hardstand to provide a firm and solid surface, installing boundary fences and concrete barriers, creating access roads and setting up environmental controls
- Connecting utilities to site buildings
- Approved tree and vegetation removal
- The use of generators until a power supply is connected to the site
- Delivery of construction materials, rail and sleepers
- Removal of redundant power poles and cables within the rail corridor
What to expect?
- Works 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 1pm Saturdays
- Extended work hours Monday, May 26 between 4.30am and 7.30pm
- Traffic management will be required in some locations where works are occurring close to roads. Please observe all traffic management instructions and signage
- There will be reduced speed limits of 40km/h near works
- Nearby residents may experience some noise and vibration during this time and can expect some additional construction workers and vehicles in the area.
Machinery used
NDD truck, compaction roller, excavators, cranes, tippers, concrete trucks, elevated work platforms, rail train, trucks and support vehicles.
How Inland Rail is managing impacts
- Traffic management and reduced road speeds
- Environmental controls will be in place.
Cancellation of works
Works can sometimes be cancelled at short notice depending on weather and other factors. Should this occur, work will be rescheduled.
