The LDV Deliver 9 van, purchased thanks to a $65,000 grant, takes the FoodShare’s fleet of vans to three and will be dedicated to transporting hard-to-source chilled products such as meat, dairy and cheese.
Moira FoodShare co-ordinator James Rouel said the new van had at least double the capacity as one of its other two vans to transport chilled goods.
“All those types of things are hard to find and very expensive to buy,” Mr Rouel said.
“So to be able to have access to something that we can use to go and get larger volumes, when they are available, will hopefully make our job a little bit easier.”
James Rouel says the new van will bring a two-fold benefit to Moira FoodShare and its clients.

With a carrying capacity of about 1200kg, the LDV will soon be fitted with a refrigeration unit and receive a paint job.
Moira FoodShare is one of 50 across Australia to share in the Qantas Regional Grants Program out of a pool of at least 3000 applicants.
Every month, the charity provides food relief to over 4500 people across 19 towns in the Moira, Berrigan and Federation shires.
