High praise for Spooky Men's Chorale

The Spooky Men’s Chorale in concert, presented by Moira Arts and Culture Inc, received a standing ovation from an appreciative and enthusiastic audience at its recent show.

Some audience members travelled more than two hours to attend the show on May 25 at the Numurkah town hall, coming from as far as Sydney and Deniliquin.

Audience members said the show was "fabulous evening entertainment” with “beautiful harmonies and funny lyrics”.

“We had about 140 people and we couldn’t have been more pleased,” Moira Arts and Culture chair Kerrie Murrell said.

“Some people had seen them at another venue and had followed them to Numurkah because they enjoyed them so much.

“They were just mesmerising and the harmonies were spectacular.”

Led by Stephen Taberner, the Spooky Men’s Chorale emerged from the Blue Mountains in 2001.

Armed with no more than their voices, a nice line in deadpan and an ill-matched set of hats, the group of 12 men has toured throughout Australia and internationally.

Touring with Regional Arts Victoria, The Spooky Men’s Chorale is performing across the state.

Moira Arts and Culture Inc. members were delighted to bring the group to the Goulburn Valley to perform in Numurkah.
