Embracing Food and Play provides practical, real-life guidance for all parents and caregivers of children aged five to 10 months.
The free program has group sessions in Cobram, Yarrawonga, Nathalia and Numurkah, which are run by health professionals including dietitians and council’s maternal and child health nurses.
The topics covered in the program include introducing solids, baby-led weaning, common allergens, transitioning from milk feeds, fun play, games and tummy time, and self-care and wellbeing for new parents.
Moira Shire manager community wellbeing Hollie Barnes said these were topics most new parents wanted to learn about.
“The face-to-face Embracing Food and Play sessions are relaxed and welcoming spaces to ask questions and build confidence,” Ms Barnes said.
“They are also an opportunity to meet and connect with other parents and carers to share experiences and knowledge.”
The program is delivered by Moira Shire Council, Yarrawonga Health and NCN Health, with sessions held throughout the year.
