Reporting lost pets, low-cost first registration fees and desexing are all subjects canvassed in council’s latest pet management plan.
Community members are invited to provide feedback on these and other subjects in Moira Shire Council’s draft Domestic Animal Management Plan 2026-29, following consultation with pet owners and non-pet owners earlier this year.
Moira Shire Council chair administrator Graeme Emonson said the plan supported responsible pet ownership, helping to ensure rules and services that supported owners were fair and effective.
“This is your chance to help shape the future of animal management in Moira Shire,” Dr Emonson said.
The draft plan was developed following consultation with more than 100 residents, and builds on the council’s Domestic Animal Management Plan 2021-2025.
The plan explores new initiatives such as support programs to reduce desexing costs and multilingual information about pet registrations.
The chance to provide feedback closes on Monday, September 22.
