The first ever ‘made, baked and grown market’ will be held in the Tocumwal Lions Club function rooms on Saturday, February 7 from 8.30am to 1pm.
Tocumwal Lions Club secretary Carol Kennedy said they chose the ‘made, baked and grown’ theme because many locals make different items and goods at home.
“It’s something for the members to be involved in and something for the community, and also an opportunity to use our clubrooms,” she said.
The market will have a variety of things on offer, including home-made jewellery, hand-stitched notebooks, garden accessories, home-grown succulents, baby clothes and even honey.
“There will be lots of craft items too,” Mrs Kennedy said.
“Sewing, quilting, pottery...”
Mrs Kennedy said all the funds raised for the club would go back into helping the broader community.
“It gives us the funds to assist the schools or, currently, fire relief assistance, things like that.”
Entry to the market will be a gold coin donation and some morning tea will be available for purchase too.
Mrs Kennedy said if the market was successful they would make it a regular event, hosting it a few times a year.
