Connecting with loved ones and local heritage has never been easier, thanks to an innovative digital platform for cemetery records.
Proudly developed and launched by the Berrigan Shire Council in partnership with Chronicle, the platform affords access to burial records and interactive maps for all four cemeteries across the shire.
Mayor Julia Cornwell McKean said the initiative was a meaningful step forward in preserving local history and improving community access to important records.
“We’re delighted to launch this platform and offer a lasting resource for residents, historians, genealogists and anyone with a connection to the region,” she said.
“Cemeteries hold important stories about our past, and this project helps us ensure those stories are preserved and accessible.”
Through the online system, users can search burial records and locate specific graves, navigate directly to grave sites using GPS, and access drone imagery and headstone photographs.
They can also navigate using interactive, easy-to-use maps of each cemetery.
