This initiative aims to support local communities to celebrate the festive season with a variety of events and activities that bring people together and share the holiday fun.
Past years have seen the funding support town decorations, community barbecues, carols by candlelight events, end-of-school concerts and much more.
Council chair administrator Graeme Emonson said applications were now open and community groups and organisations should take advantage of the opportunity.
“Christmas is a wonderful time for our community to come together, and the Festive Funding program helps to foster community spirit,” he said.
“Funding is available for small and large towns, ensuring Christmas cheer can be spread across the shire.”
Up to $1000 will be made available to organisations in small towns and up to $2000 in the four larger towns ― Cobram, Yarrawonga, Nathalia and Numurkah ― to decorate or run an event.
There will also be up to $1000 to celebrate a culturally significant day.
Only one grant will be awarded per town or cultural event.
What can be funded:
• Purchase and installation of decorations.
• Signage, banners and flags.
• Hire of equipment.
• Purchase of goods and services to hold an event.
• Entertainment, including music and lighting.
• Promotions.
Eligible community groups are encouraged to submit applications that demonstrate a clear benefit to the local community and promote participation and enjoyment for all ages.
