On Friday, September 5, Anthony — affectionately known as ‘Mr Corso’ by his students — finished his placement at Strathmerton Primary School, ending the practical component of his Bachelor of Primary Education with La Trobe University.
Anthony, 21, said the best part about his placements, including his time at Strathmerton, was forging relationships with his students.
“It’s a bittersweet feeling,” he said of finishing his practical training.
While Anthony will be soon handing in his final assessments, it’s a different story for friend and fellow aspiring teacher Matteo Allen, also 21.
At the same time that Anthony is ending his time on practicals, Matteo this week began his placement at Strathmerton PS.
And while Anthony is set to finish his degree in November, Matteo still has two more years to go after this year.
But Matteo said he was looking forward to getting stuck into his placements.
“I can see myself working with kids. It’s a rewarding job,” he said.
One might say teaching is in Matteo’s blood, with his mum, Teresa, also an educator.
Like Anthony, Matteo’s brother, Luca, has also recently finished his time on placement at the Cobram & District Specialist School.
