“We’re thrilled to have been chosen by the funding body to receive nearly $4000 for this event,” BCC president Jamie Adams said.
“The evening recognises the struggles placed on families at the present time, particularly within our own community, which has strong ties to farming and rural life.”
The event is set to acknowledge the ongoing hardship faced by the region, especially in the aftermath of the January 2026 fires, which caused significant loss to parts of the community less than 12 months ago.
“This is just our little way of helping, by providing an all-inclusive, safe space, where community can come together, be with their families and mates and, for one night, not have to think about who's paying the bill,” Mr Adams said.
The evening will feature performances from the Numurkah Ukulele Club, local artist Toby Brooks, local band The Murks and the Numurkah Line Dancers.
Moira Shire Council administrator Susan Benedyka will speak at the event, alongside CFA members Adrian Moule and Allan Warfe.
Other representatives from the Numurkah Fire Brigade will also be in attendance to deliver important messaging ahead of this year’s fire season, with one of the station’s trucks to be on display.
A free community barbecue will be available, and local food businesses are encouraged to extend their trading hours for those wanting coffee or dinner on their way home.
Local support services have been invited to provide resources and highlight assistance available to the community during these challenging times.
While the event is free, donation tins will be on hand to support future community projects.
“So, grab the chairs, picnic rugs and message your mates — we've got the party started, we just need you to come,” Mr Adams said.
BCC has thanked state Member for Shepparton Kim O’Keeffe, who provided a letter of support for the grant application, noting the importance of events that strengthen community ties and foster resilience.
The event will kick off at 6pm and conclude at 9pm.
BCC is a new community group formed as a satellite club to the Rotary Club of Numurkah.
The group aims to deliver events and projects across the Numurkah region in a way that feels fresh and approachable.
