Find a new adventure for young and old at 1st Cobram Scouts

Looking for a new adventure?

The 1st Cobram Scouts could just be the answer.

The local club is looking for adults and children (primary school age and up) who are keen to join the adventure.

“We're not just looking for youth, but adults as well,” group leader Ben Sullivan said.

“We need leaders to help support the youth. No experience is required and Scouts provide all training free of charge.

“This is a great chance for parents whose kids are involved to also jump on board.”

Ask Mr Sullivan about the benefits of scouts and he will wax lyrical.

And it is not just about fun activities and learning valuable skills - although that is certainly part of it.

“Scouts help with kids’ growth. I've seen kids who used to be extremely shy get up and perform at Anzac ceremonies,” he said.

“It's a great confidence-builder and gets children out of their comfort zones and do activities they wouldn't normally do.

“They also build lifelong friendships along the way. And it doesn't matter where you've come from, you're all equal, you all wear the same uniform.”

Cobram Scouts are holding an open information night on Wednesday, March 18.

It will kick off at 6.30 pm at 2 Bank St, Cobram (just inside the showgrounds on the left).

“We hope locals of all ages will come down and see what it’s all about,” Mr Sullivan said.

“We will have games and activities for the kids while the adults have a cuppa and we can explain some of the exciting activities we do and valuable life skills that can be taught.

“Everyone is welcome so please come along.”
