A man who allegedly snatched the handbag from an 89-year-old woman has been charged following a swift police investigation.

On Sunday, September 7, an 89-year-old woman was returning home from a social outing when she was allegedly assaulted on Wadeson St, Cobram.
Police say her alleged assailant stole the elderly woman’s handbag, causing her to fall over in the process.
She sustained minor injuries.
Acting on information received from the public, police arrested a 37-year-old man of no fixed abode in the Cobram CBD on Wednesday, September 10.
“It was important that we acted swiftly, bearing in mind the age and vulnerability of the victim,” Cobram CIU Detective Senior Sergeant Marcus Boyd said.
The man was charged with theft of a handbag, unlawful assault, possession of methylamphetamine and committing an indictable offence while on bail.
He was set to appear before Shepparton Magistrates’ Court.
