The school aims to ensure its values of Respect, Safety and Try Your Best underpin all activities of the school.
It’s important to foster a sense of community in the school environment and take our activities outside the classroom. This includes the work our students do volunteering locally and the range of activities our students undertake as part of their learning.
Many students are involved in Leo’s on The Murray, volunteering for Dutch Thunder, Meals on Wheels, Live4Life, Clean Up Australia Day, Riding for the Disabled, Duke of Edinburgh Award, inter-school sports, work experience, bike education, camps, excursions, swimming, athletics, sports and other activities including VPC-related coursework. This year a group of students is completing certificate 11 in agriculture, at Cobram Secondary College.
Our curriculum is based on the Victorian Curriculum and Victorian Pathways Curriculum. We work with students and parents to develop individual education plan goals, which address students’ needs and teach independent living skills throughout their active learning.
It is valuable to have a school such as Cobram and District Specialist School in our district. It means local families know their child is learning at their point of need, in a class with an average of seven students and two staff members supporting them.
The school’s facilities include nine classrooms, art room, sensory room, a multi-purpose facility and kitchen.
External facilities include new playground equipment and an asphalt open play area. We utilise Cobram Primary School’s grounds for our middle and senior years.
In July, stage two of our master plan is to commence. This includes a new administration area, offices, staff room, staff planning area, a meeting room and a new classroom.
