Greater Shepparton City Council is on the hunt for a new member to join its Disability Advisory Committee and is calling for nominations from local residents.

The DAC was established to create a strong bond between council and people living with disabilities, carers, family members, advocates and service providers.

The committee, which currently has eight community representatives and three local industry service providers, provides advice and assistance to the council on incorporating key priorities outlined in the Universal Access and Inclusion Plan.

City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali said the vacancy provided an excellent opportunity for a community member to actively contribute to positive changes related to disability in Greater Shepparton.

DAC member Cr Ben Ladson also encouraged locals to apply for the position.

“Committee input is highly valued and it provides council with additional insights into what we need to do to make a difference in Greater Shepparton,” he said.

Nominations will be accepted until 5pm on Friday, May 5.

Nomination forms and further information are available on council’s website or at council offices.
