Cobram's Isabella Boys up for yet another award

Cobram’s Isabella Boys is again being recognised for her hard work.

A week on from being named Moira Shire’s joint Young Citizen of the Year, “Miss Iz” has received a nomination for the 7News Young Victorian Achiever Awards.

Her name has been thrown into the pot for the Saward Dawson Community Service and Social Impact Award, with category winners set to receive $2000 in prizes.

Additionally, one of which will be crowned the 2021 Young Victorian Achiever of the Year.

The prospect is pretty hard to fathom – especially considering Isabella is yet to turn 13.

Upon hearing the news, Isabella was jubilant, albeit blown away, to be recognised for yet another accolade in the realm of community contribution.

“I was pretty amazed – I was thinking that I don’t really deserve this, but I guess others did,” she said.

“It has been an awesome feeling to get this nomination. If I was to win, I’d give it to my school to hang on the wall.”

The Cobram Anglican Grammar School student will enter Year 7 when term one begins.

But Isabella has already done more for others than most her age and above.

When police officers were stationed at the Cobram-Barooga border during the height of the coronavirus pandemic, Isabella made it her prerogative to keep NSW Police Force members topped up with baked goods.

It didn’t go unrecognised.

She has fiercely supported the Lions Need for Feed initiative, is a member of the Parks Victoria Junior Ranger Program and actively barracks for various community initiatives throughout Cobram.

According to Isabella, she fully intends to spend 2021 in the same manner as last year - extending an outstretched arm to others.

As to who inspired her - that's easy.

It's safe to say generosity runs in the family, with Isabella herself singling out mum Jane Bowman as motivation to make a difference.

“How I got started out helping other people was by watching my mum. What she was doing for others; I thought was amazing.”
