All are welcome to attend the social lunch on Tuesday, August 4 at Irvin Hall, where a display featuring Spinning Through the Ages and Serviette Cards crafted by Heather Hosie will be exhibited.
The special guest speaker will be Dr Derek Pang, who a church spokesperson says “has a wonderful story to tell”.
Dr Pang will give attendees an insight into guided father-son and father-daughter experiences through the Fathering Adventures Camps he has been involved in with his own son and daughter.
Held regularly at a number of locations across the country, including Queensland, Victoria and NSW, the experiences help to foster healthy relationships, stronger bonds and a profound understanding for parents and their children.
A donation is set to be made to the Fathering Adventures Program, as well as supporting the Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Child Shoeboxes.
For the past few years, the Uniting Church has packed 100 shoeboxes with educational needs, hygiene products, clothing and fun activities for disadvantaged children in the Pacific region, many of whom have never experienced receiving a gift for Christmas.
The overhead cost of transporting these boxes to outlying communities is a substantial $12.50 per box.
The church is inviting the community to come along at noon to enjoy a wonderful afternoon of good food, good fun and an inspiring speaker for just $25 per head.
