Among them is the Tocumwal SES unit, holding its first ever ‘Biggest Morning Tea’ on Monday, May 18.
Deputy Unit Commander Theresa Mantovani said this would be a great way to kick off ‘Volunteer Week’ and support a very worthy cause.
Ms Mantovani said supporting the Cancer Council was important to her because she had “lost some very special people in her life to cancer and watched others battle the disease”.
“I thought this is a nice way to honour them,” she said.
“With one in two Australians being diagnosed before the age of 85, the importance of raising funds and awareness is vital."
The event is ‘cash only’, with barista-made coffee from the Odesi Collective coffee van and delicious homemade goods baked by volunteers.
There will also be a raffle and jelly bean jar count, with tickets $1 each and all proceeds going to the cause.
The morning tea will be held at 10.30am at 3 Jerilderie St, Tocumwal.
To RSVP, text 0417 955 076 or respond to the Facebook event.
