Last week Cobram Secondary College was visited by former student Stefan Duscio, who is now an award-winning cinematographer.
Stefan has worked on many movies, such as The Invisible Man, The Dry and Little Tornadoes, and has just returned from filming Wolf Man with Ryan Gosling in New Zealand.
Stefan spoke to the ‘Made for Stage’ students about his time at CSC and his pathway to becoming a cinematographer.
He told the students they could do anything if they had the drive and passion, and spoke about how his classes at school helped him get to where he was now.
In fact, Rae Wood, the drama teacher, taught him when he was at CSC.
“The Year 9-10 Made for Stage class performed an abridged version of William Shakespeare’s timeless comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream to an audience of Year 7s and parents on Wednesday, June 12,” Miss Wood said.
“Shakespeare wrote this play over 400 years ago, yet its themes remain relevant today.
“Our production aimed to capture the magic of Shakespeare’s vision while making it accessible and engaging for a modern audience.
“Our talented students have poured their hearts into bringing these characters to life, embracing the language, humour and emotion that make this play such fun.
“They also designed and made most of the costumes, props and set.
“I am blessed to work with such amazing young humans who challenged themselves to defy their comfort zones and meet the demands of performing and producing a piece of theatre.
“The cast wish to thank parents, teachers and staff for their support.
“And they hope the audience was transported into a world where anything is possible — a world where love conquers all, misunderstandings are resolved and dreams do come true.”
Earlier that day, students performed their dress rehearsal in front of Stefan, who then decided to climb a ladder and light the scenes, and gave Isaiah tips on how to use the lighting deck.
He gave great feedback and asked if he could come back at a later date to chat further with the students.
