Cobram Lions have announced the installation of two pieces of equipment in Killara House that they hope never to have to use, but are potentially lifesavers.
A Lions Club spokesperson said a new defibrillator and fully stocked first aid kit was purchased following a successful grant application to Cobram Community Enterprise.
“These have been installed in their clubroom ready for use if needed,” the spokesperson said.
“As well as being used for our regular meetings, the rooms are used for Lions Training and Lions Projects including the Art Show, Youth of the Year and Shower Program.
Training on the use of the defibrillator is expected to be held sometime in the next month.
It is not just the Lions Club that will benefit from the installation and training.
A number of other community groups, including Legacy, Girl Guides, Cancer Support, U3A and the Gardening Club use the rooms regularly.
“These groups will also be offered the opportunity to be trained on the defibrillators use,” the spokesperson said.
