Hosted annually at the Deniliquin Lawn Tennis Courts in CHarlotte St, the event attracts tennis players from across Victoria and NSW.
The action will get underway at 11am today, Good Friday, and conclude on Easter Monday.
The four days of events consists of knockout events, a veterans’ round robin event on Saturday, and round robin events on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.
Nominations are still open for the round robin events, and can be made at the club at any time throughout the weekend.
The nomination deadline for the men’s and ladies’ veterans is 12.30pm Saturday, with play from 1pm.
Veterans is open to all players aged 45 and over.
Nominations for all other round robin events also close 30 minutes before play, with play start times as follows:
• C-grade men’s and ladies’ doubles - 9am Sunday.
• B-grade men’s and ladies - 12.30pm Sunday.
• C-grade mixed doubles - 9am Monday.
• B-grade mixed doubles - 12.30pm Monday.
Deniliquin Lawn Tennis Club president Harley Moore said the B-grade mixed round robin is usually hotly contested, and is a great event to conclude the championships.
Registration numbers for the knockout events are down on previous years, which Moore said is no doubt impacted by the petrol/diesel shortages and prices.
He said local and regional players are more likely to contest round robin events, which give you four or five sets of tennis.
Moore said the Easter forecast available at the time of going to print points to great conditions for players and spectators alike.
The club courts are located in Charlotte St, Deniliquin.
