Cobram Anglican Grammar School brothers Cedric and Coen Pang have both been honoured for their work as part of the Furphy Literature Award.

Cedric, 15, who is currently in Year 9, won third prize in the Youth Poetry category. He won the award for his poem Soul’s Eclipse.

“I’d like to thank my teachers, Ms Sharonlee Parker and Mrs Amy Carr,” he said.

Year 6 student Coen Pang, 11, won a commendation in the Junior Poetry category, for his poem Bushfire.

Coen said he’d like to thank his teacher, Mrs Christine Doyle.

Mum Jacqueline Pang said Cedric and Coen had always enjoyed reading.

“They were really excited when they found out that their poems were shortlisted, it was a big surprise,” she said.

The Furphy Literary Award ceremony was held on Sunday, July 28, at Shepparton Library.

At the event, Cedric and Coen were joined by CAGS head of junior school Fiona Clarke, who helped to celebrate their achievement.
