But rest assured, the atmosphere is sure to be ‘neigh’-bourly.
The Barooga Cricket Club and Sporties Barooga are gearing up for the return of the annual Melbourne Cup Calcutta Night on Monday, November 4.
Whether you’re into having a punt, a little flutter here and there, or are just looking for an evening of excitement, there’s something for everyone.
Barooga CC committee member and organiser Kale Watkins said the Calcutta Night was an opportunity to acknowledge the tremendous support Sporties had given the cricket club for many years.
“The committee have been busy preparing for the event, with several tables booked already for what is shaping up to be a fantastic event, but we’d love a few more to get involved,” Kale said.
Tickets for the two separate horse draws are $2 and $5 each, respectively.
There will also be a raffle on the evening, with prizes including generous vouchers for local businesses around town.
Funds raised from the raffle ticket sales will support the cricket club’s fundraising initiative.
The event will be held at Sporties Barooga on Burkinshaw St, Barooga, with tickets on sale from 4pm and the main draw starting at 6.45pm.
