Transport NSW launched the long called for service in June last year and expected to make an announcement on its future in December.
But the service only ran for a month before parts of Victoria went in to COVID-19 lockdown and the NSW Government instigated a hard border closure.
An extension was granted in January this year, to last six months.
Dyson Group Deniliquin depot manager Evan Maidment said the service has been well supported, but not consistently.
He said unless there is a demonstrated need, the service may not continue.
“You can get from Conargo to Echuca-Moama and back every Wednesday. Simply book your seat, sit back, relax and let us do the driving,” he said.
‘‘We have a small group of regular passengers who use the service weekly, some for social and shopping reasons and others for medical appointments, but we’d like to see more taking advantage of it.
‘‘This service is only being operated as trial, and its use will determine whether it becomes permanent.
“There are discounted fares for children and concession card holders, including the $2.50 RED ticket, and space for shopping and prams.
“Due to COVID-19, services will be running at a reduced capacity, so you should plan and book your trip early to avoid missing out.”
The Conargo to Echuca service includes stops in Deniliquin, Mathoura and Moama before going to the Echuca train station and Echuca Health Service.
The service leaves Conargo at 8.25am and reaches Echuca by 10.05am. The return trip leaves Echuca at 2pm and arrives at its final destination in Conargo at 3.45pm.
The bus has wheelchair access, and has a useful luggage area.
The full fare is $10 from Conargo to Echuca, or $20 for a round trip. The concession fare is $5 one way from Conargo to Echuca, or $10 return.
Bookings can be made by phoning the Dyson Group’s Deniliquin depot on 5881 1333 or email to deniliquin@dysongroup.com.au. You can pay over the phone when booking, or you can pay the driver. Eftpos is preferred.
Any changes to the timetables and COVID-19 travel restrictions will be communicated to you when booking.
