In 2010, she founded the charity HOOFS2010, a brumby sanctuary in Berrigan that aims to rescue and re-home brumbies to save them from culling.
“We rescue wild horses from areas across Victoria and NSW,” she said.
“We currently have 26 wild horses at the moment.”
Three of those horses came into her care in the last week, including an orphaned foal.
The charity also works closely with community groups within the Cobram community.
“We have students from the Cobram and District Specialist School coming to do working bees and Duke of Edinburgh,” Ms Sutton said.
To continue to look after the brumbies in their care, Ms Sutton said they needed continuous donations from the community.
Earlier this year, they opened a Brumby Barn Shop on their sanctuary, after closing their charity shop on Chanter St.
The shop sells collective giftware and antiques, to help boost its fundraising campaigns.
As part of its fundraising efforts, HOOFS2010 is also selling a 2024 calendar featuring its many horses as well as two collaborative bottles of wine with GoodWill Wine, with 50 per cent of the profits going towards the charity.
“We just want to save as many horses as we can,” Ms Sutton said.
