Ronnie Owen brings smiles for Do It for Dolly Day
Former Deniliquin High School student, Ronnie Owen, brought plenty of laughter and positivity to Motiv8 Gym last Friday, May 15.
Inspired by Do It For Dolly Day, the 19 year-old dressed head‑to‑toe as Mario from Supermario Brothers.
Ronnie’s goal was simple, to spark smiles, start conversations about bullying, and lift the mood across the community.
His playful approach turned heads and reminded everyone of the importance of kindness and connection.
MAFS stars spied at the footy
Bec Zacharia, Indie Bain, and Rachel Gilmore.
Blighty’s reality TV fans were in for a nice surprise when they travelled to Dookie on Saturday.
Former Married at First Sight groom, Chris Nield, is currently playing for Dookie.
And two of his co-stars popped along to support him, and the Dookies ladies day.
Bec Zacharia and Rachel Gilmore were brides from the most recent season, and were in attendance.
They were more than happy to grab some pics with fans, including Blighty junior netballer Indie Bain.
Orana raffle winners
Residents and staff at Orana marked Mother’s Day with plenty of smiles, as the winners of the 2026 Mother’s Day raffle were announced.
Taking out first prize was Lachlan Holden, followed by Steve O’Brien in second, Rosie Aitken in third, and Di Spalding in fourth.
The raffle was organised by The Lifestyle Team, who thanked everyone for their support and wished all residents and families a Happy Mother’s Day.
Colorful cotton
If, like our team here at the Pastoral Times, you’ve ever wondered why cotton modules around the district come in different coloured wraps, the answer is simpler than you might think.
The only colours with consistent meaning are the charity-linked wraps.
The pink wrap supports the McGrath Foundation, helping raise awareness and fundraise for breast cancer across Australia, while blue wrap often contributes to Beyond Blue, supporting mental health services.
Occasionally, the colour relates to thickness or UV rating, but, that’s a management choice rather than an industry standard.
So next time you’re driving past a paddock dotted with yellow, pink, blue or green cotton modules, you can be confident they’re all doing the same job, with some also helping support important causes in rural communities.
Have your say on rail crossing safety
Your experience can help improve safety in Deniliquin.
Council is gathering community feedback on the Wood St and Harfleur St rail level crossings.
Not just about train movements, but how pedestrians and motorists use these areas every day.
The information collected will directly support the design of safer crossings and strengthen future funding applications aimed at improving local infrastructure.
