Berrigan Shire Council has obtained funding to construct shared pathways in Barooga and Tocumwal.
The paths will provide safe and accessible pedestrian and cycle links across the towns.
The Tocumwal path will transform the current stone path from the Tocumwal Golf and Bowls Club entrance through to the intersection of Kelly St and Jerilderie St, while the Barooga path will run along Golf Course Rd from the Barooga Hotel to the intersection of Burkinshaw St.
The funding came under the NSW Government Get NSW Active program, which provides local councils with funding for projects that are aimed at creating safe, easy and enjoyable walking and cycling trips.
The new paths are expected to be constructed by June 2023, with contractors being engaged early next year.
Mayor Matthew Hannan said council was pleased to have secured the funding.
“We are delighted to have the opportunity to build safe and accessible pathways linking residents to our business and recreation hubs in Barooga and Tocumwal,” he said.
