The proposed development of a 100-bed residential aged care facility at Bentley Wood Cobram is not going ahead.

As part of the Federal Government 2018-19 Aged Care Approvals Round, Bentley Wood was provisionally allocated 100 places.
Bentley Wood director Brian Fitzpatrick said the development would not go ahead due to planning issues.
“Following the purchase of Campbell Rd, planning with architects commenced with earnest, however, due to planning issues not foreseen, it became clear the project was no longer economically viable,” he said.“We will continue to operate our current facilities in Myrtleford and Yarrawonga and encourage the community to support residential aged care.“Bentley Wood has demonstrated a long successful business is residential aged care in the local community and will continue to do so.“Bentley Wood would like to thank the Australian Government Department of Health with their assistance and support navigating this outcome.”
Federal Member for Nicholls Damian Drum was disappointed the development would not proceed as planned.
“Ultimately this was a decision made by a for-profit company,” Mr Drum said.
“I remain hopeful that at least some of the 100 beds that had been provisionally allocated to Bentley Wood in the 2018-19 Aged Care Approvals Round will be reallocated to other aged care providers in the area.
“The Federal Government is committed to providing older Australians with access to care that supports their dignity and treats them with respect.”
