Benalla Girl Guides empowering youth through adventure and learning

Benalla Girl Guides challenging themselves in pursuit of their Rope Badge.

Girl Guides offers an incredible opportunity for girls aged 5 to 17 to come together in a fun and supportive environment, fostering skills that will benefit them for life.

At Benalla Girl Guides, members develop confidence, take part in community service, and learn valuable life skills—all while making lifelong friendships.

Five dedicated members, Amira, Georgia, Elly, Sophie and Ella, recently challenged themselves in pursuit of their rope badge.

This award recognises girls who master different types of ropes and knots, pushing their creativity and problem-solving skills.

Their hard work culminated in an exciting cluster event, Sticks and Strings Inventors’ Day, where they put their newfound expertise to the test by constructing climbing rope ladders and bridges—earning their Rope Badges with pride.

Di McKenna, one of the leaders at Benalla Girl Guides, said guiding opens many doors.

"Girl Guides isn’t just a local experience—it’s a gateway to adventures across Victoria, Australia, and even internationally,“ she said.

“It provides girls with the chance to grow, learn, and build friendships in a supportive and exciting environment."

Later this year, Benalla Girl Guides who attend Benalla P-12 College and FCJ College will embark on the thrilling Bush to Beach Jamboree 2025 in Murwillumbah, NSW.

This event brings Guides together from all over Australia to share unforgettable adventures, while building friendships together, and with the wider guiding community.

It is open to all guides aged 10 to 17.

Jamboree is a chance to create incredible memories while embracing new challenges.

From learning practical skills to building confidence and experiencing new adventures, Benalla Girl Guides is shaping the future leaders of tomorrow—one badge at a time.
