The 11-year-old student said she was inspired by sunsets, birds and the varied wildlife found in the ocean.
Abby worked on her watercolour and acrylic poster at school, spending hours meticulously creating her piece during lunch times and recesses.
Cobram Lions art show committee member Janet Austin said she was amazed by the quality of the work produced by local young artists such as Abby.
“I think they were all very well done,” Mrs Austin said.
“A lot of thought goes into them. When you sit back and look at them, it’s amazing what that age group is doing.”
The Cobram Lions Club has also donated a sum of $100 to Cobram Primary School, in recognition of its encouragement of local young artists.
Now that it has won at the local club level, Abby’s work will go on to compete in the Lions District Peace Poster Competition in November, where it will go up against posters by students across the Lions V6 district.
If Abby’s poster wins at the district level, it will progress to the next stage at nationals. After that, it will be on to the international stage.
