The 32-year-old man was arrested in a shopping centre car park in Charlestown, near Newcastle, on Friday following an alleged attack on a woman known to him on August 8.
The man was charged with domestic violence charges including two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, intentionally choking a person without consent, reckless grievous bodily harm and breach of bail.
He was refused bail and will appear before Newcastle Local Court on August 25.
The arrest formed part of Operation Amarok, a three-day domestic violence blitz carried out by NSW Police between Friday and Sunday.
The intelligence-led and offender-focused operation targeted high-risk domestic and family violence offenders "who present an increased threat to victims because of their capability, intent and access", NSW Police said.
Police arrested 732 people and laid 1589 charges across the three-day period, with 228 arrest warrants executed.
A total of 546 apprehended violence order and bail breaches were detected from a pool of more than 13,500 compliance checks.
Officers also seized 118 guns and 16 other weapons after checking almost 100 high-risk individuals who are banned from possessing guns.
During one check in Sanctuary Point, south of Nowra, police allegedly found two unregistered guns and ammunition, a gel blaster, and drugs including methamphetamine.
A 51-year-old man was charged with a series of weapons and drug offences and was refused bail.
NSW authorities for the first time worked with counterparts in the ACT, including ACT Policing and the AFP, to extradite offenders wanted over alleged domestic violence charges.
That included a 33-year-old man arrested at a home in Goulburn, NSW, over alleged domestic violence-related offences in the ACT. He was refused bail to appear before court for extradition to the territory.
"A border is not a hiding place, and it should not protect alleged offenders from the consequences of their actions," NSW Police Minister Yasmin Catley said.
A domestic and family violence-related call is made to NSW Police every three minutes, Deputy Commissioner of Regional NSW Field Operations Paul Pisanos said.
"It is a whole-of-society issue and while police play a role, we all need to work together to reduce the scourge," Mr Pisanos said.
Since its launch in 2023, more than 9000 alleged offenders have been charged as part of Operation Amarok.
