A religious service blessed the new principal and his future work in leading the school.
Mr Willett took up the position of principal nine months ago, with the official welcome to the school delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“I feel humbled, I feel honoured, I know we've got a lot of hard work ahead of us but I know we've got exactly the right group of people at our school to do that hard work,” Mr Willett said.
Proceedings started with a procession of the official party and a welcome to country, followed by hymns, Bible readings and prayers led by Reverend Victor Adams and the Bishop of Wangaratta Reverend Clarence Bester.
Members of the Anglican School Commission, school council, staff and students formally recognised Mr Willett as the school principal and presented him with symbols reflecting devotion to the school and Anglican faith.
Rev Bester commended Mr Willett's work throughout the pandemic.
“We look forward to the great and wonderful things that will happen at CAGS and we look forward to continuous engagement with the other two schools in the Diocese of Wangaratta as well as the community in Cobram,” Rev Bester said.
Mr Willett grew up on a farm just outside Yarrawonga and studied at Victoria College.
He completed his Masters in Education at Deakin University in Geelong.
His most recent teaching role as deputy principal at Cathedral College Wangaratta prepared him for his transition to CAGS.
The commissioning was held on March 23.
