McHappy Day for all involved

Cobram McDonalds came alive earlier this month when locals flocked to the fast food restaurant to celebrate the annual McHappy Day appeal.

The annual fundraiser, on Saturday, November 16, raised $1654 for Ronald McDonald House Charities, raised in the week leading up and on the day itself.

Many of the local organisations supported the event, with the Girl Guides offering face painting expertise, Cobram Fire Brigade demonstrating a wild life rescue as well as the Cobram police.

Cobram McDonalds McHappy Day co-ordinator Nicole Jones was elated with the turnout and spoke about the importance of the day and why it started.

“It’s extremely important to raise money for the cause, lots of families go to stay at the Ronald McDonald House when their family members are sick, some even stay for a full year,” she said.

“Ronald McDonald House helps with accommodation and makes the families feel at home during their stay.

“It was a big job, but it was all worth it”

The restaurant managed to sell 264 Big Macs on the day, with $2 from every burger going to Ronald McDonald House Charities. Plenty of pairs of silly socks and Helping Hands were also sold.

Donations can be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities year round at on the McHappy Day appeal website.
