THE Andrews Labor government’s two-part $2.33 million project on McKenzie Rd between Ogilvie Avenue and Echuca Airport is now underway, with the hope of benefitting the 2,200 drivers who use the stretch each day.
The area of road, which connects to Echuca-Kyabram Rd, provides vital access to and from Kyabram for tourists as well as residents who travel away for work.
“We know how important this road is for locals, tourists and freight operators travelling between NSW, Echuca and Kyabram – which is why we’re making it stronger, smoother and more reliable,” member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp said.
“Our maintenance blitz is improving countless roads across regional Victoria to provide better journeys for thousands of Victorians relying on the network each day.”
Crews are rebuilding and strengthening both lanes on a 1.2 kilometre stretch of the road until early February, which will then be followed by works to rebuild another 600-metre section.
It is part of the Labor government’s $425 million investment to improve hundreds of freeways and roads that Victorians rely on every day.
Reduced speeds and traffic management will be in place – drivers are asked to be patient and adhere to these changed conditions for the safety of roadworkers and the community.
