A new baby is like the beginning of all things — wonder, hope, and a dream of possibilities.
So, when first-time parents Sarah Hall and Bayden Kay welcomed their son Lincoln into the world on February 19 through a water birth at GV Health, their experience was a magical beginning.
The serene environment of the water birthing suite provided a tranquil backdrop for Sarah and Bayden’s journey into parenthood.
And with the gentle support of the medical team, Sarah immersed herself in the warm water, finding comfort and relaxation within the soothing surroundings.
“Whenever I feel unwell or just want to relax, I’ve always found water soothing, calming, and good for pain relief,” Sarah said,
“So, after researching birthing options and discovering that the water birthing suite was ready at GV Health, everything felt like it was just meant to be.”
As Lincoln entered the world, the room was filled with joy and anticipation.
Positive words of affirmation adorned the walls surrounding their experience, soft music played in the background, and fairy lights twinkled, casting a gentle glow.
Reflecting on their experience, Sarah expressed gratitude for their compassionate care at GV Health and the overall experience.
“It was such a personalised experience, and the care we received was fantastic,” she said.
“It was so relaxing, and I felt so comfortable.
“I had my midwife Heather in the room with us and another midwife called Michelle who was experienced in water births, and they were both wonderful.”
Lincoln was born at 12:18pm, and Sarah remained in the bath for some time to enjoy skin-to-skin contact with her new bundle of joy, while they prolonged the cord clamping before Bayden experienced cutting his son’s cord.
“I highly recommend the experience to anyone. I couldn’t have asked for a better labour. It was so special,” Sarah said.
“Lincoln and I stayed overnight in the birthing suite and were released the following day, where the next exciting chapter began,” she said with a smile as she looked at her little boy.
