Lual is expected to feature in Sunday's home clash with Perth in the club's first outing since the bottom-placed club opted to Alen Stajcic earlier this week.
But the axing of a coach, who has been replaced by Gary van Egmond, seems rather trivial when you consider what Lual has had to endure all by just the tender age of 19.
The forward was born in a refugee camp in Kenya after his family fled conflict in his homeland before relocating to Australia soon after his first birthday.
Last weekend the teenager grabbed his first professional goal in a 2-1 loss to Newcastle.
But in what should have been a moment of celebration, the striker couldn't help but think of his late father Lual Awan Lueth.
Lual's father was killed as he made his way to work at Sydney Airport in October 2024 when a vehicle being tailed by police ploughed into the back of his car.
"My late father, he really supported me on my journey, I'm sad he wasn't here but I know he'd be proud and I dedicated the goal to him," Lual told AAP.
"(My family) had a very hard journey (to get to Australia), the war, and obviously with me, my siblings, I was born during the time where we were trying to flee.
"My sister, my brother and I came from a disadvantaged area where we were prone to sicknesses and praise to God for the help that we have."
Lual is the third eldest of eight siblings who grew up in Sydney's west where backyard matches would invariably end up with something breaking and tempers flaring.
His elder brother Lueth Awan is on the books of the Sydney Kings but there was only one calling for Lual, who idolised former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.
"I want to win the league with the Western Sydney Wanderers, I've been in the west practically my entire life," Lual said.
"I have a core memory of when I was in youth football and I saw the Wanderers logo across the road and I told a friend of mine, 'that's my home' and the next season I was here."
Lual may see limited game time for the rest of the season under van Egmond but when he does get a chance he wants to make goalscoring appearances his calling card.
"I have a pretty high number of goals I want to achieve … I know I have to keep going one better daily," Lual said.
"Once you start scoring you start getting addicted, especially here on this stage. There might be too much addiction. I might have to sleep with the ball."
