But, even by their standards, their latest signing is a bit special.
Not like the former internationals who line up for the club based in a Manchester suburb, he doesn't have much of a track record in soccer.
In fact, he tried and failed to make the grade in A-League Men with Central Coast Mariners.
But his record on the track is elite.
Usain Bolt won eight Olympic medals, 11 world athletics championship golds, and nine years after his retirement the Jamaican remains the world record holder at 100m and 200m.
But he's always been football-mad, an ardent Manchester United fan, and at 40 now appears set to turn out alongside ex-Red Antonio Valencia, the former Ecuador winger.
The Press Association reports Bolt has appeared on the squad list for Wythenshawe on the Football Association's Full-Time website.
Managed by former Manchester City and Republic of Ireland midfielder Stephen Ireland, besides Valencia the line-up includes England caps Emile Heskey (England, Liverpool & Leicester), Danny Drinkwater (Leicester City & Chelsea) and Joleon Lescott (Everton & Manchester City) plus Senegal's Papiss Cisse (Chelsea & Newcastle).
Bolt had eight weeks at the Mariners in 2018 when he scored a couple of goals in a friendly, but did not make an impact competitively like Heskey, who had two seasons with Newcastle Jets and initially impressed.
Wythenshawe, who have yet to announce Bolt's signing, have been contacted for comment.
