An upset on the court last week against Tungamah has the Barooga A-grade going back to the drawing board and finding a play where the team will gel.
Coach Sharni Hazelman said the weekend’s result of 33-37 was disappointing but was a good learning experience.
‘‘It’s an unfortunate result and we said we weren’t taking the game lightly, we had a good first half but couldn’t keep it up in the second half,’’ she said.
‘‘We led at the end of each quarter — except the last. Tungamah was shooting really accurately and so it made it difficult to convert.
‘‘Tungamah got a few goals and that was when we dropped our heads a bit.’’
Hazelman was hoping to instil some confidence in the girls and get a solid four-quarter performance for this Saturday when they face Cobram in a finals rematch from last year.
‘‘There’s a friendly rivalry there and Cobram was a strong opposition last year, so we’re focusing on ourselves rather than the upcoming game — it’s back to training and working on what we know,’’ she said.
‘‘We just need to stay confident and play our game. It’s early days in terms of the season and we’re a fairly new side, but we’ll keep improving and just take it a day at a time.’’
