‘‘We want to ensure Shepparton East can remain a viable club and continue to positively contribute to that community,’’ AFL GM region general manager Jamie Macri said.
‘‘It was very important to find Shepp East a practical and favourable outcome and thanks to the KDFNL for supporting the application.’’
Macri reiterated it was important the KDFNL clubs continued to be well supported and the league administration was given the necessary resources to support the league with the 15 club fixture for this year.
Newly-elected league president Fraser Kerrins supported Macri’s comments.
‘‘A lot of work has gone into ensuring we reached a positive resolution as quickly as possible so all clubs can move forward and make plans for the 2019 season,’’ he said.
‘‘Our competition finals structure will remain a final six played over four weeks with our grand final to be hosted again in 2019 at Mooroopna football ground.’’
Macri commended Murray Football Netball League for supporting Shepparton East during the 2018 season.
‘‘It is important to acknowledge the Murray Football Netball League and thank them for being able to provide a home for Shepp East FNC in 2018,’’ he said.
‘‘It has been a tough period for the club and we are hopeful everyone can move forward into 2019 with some clarity.’’
With the inclusion of Dookie United, which joined the league last year, the league will now function with a 15-club fixture this season.
