Bruce Clancy, Ken Bowden, Tony King and Lindsay Dalzell were right in their game for most of the afternoon, level at 10 all after 15 ends. However, Tongala ran over the top of the RSL combination, grabbing five of the final six ends and amassing 13 shots for a decisive win. Tongala 23 d RSL 12.
Tony Tonta with his grouping of Jenny Tonta, Cheryl Bradley and Miro Peterman provided the only joy for the day with solid victory. They were never headed, with skip Tony bowling brilliantly to build on the good set-up work of his teammates. RSL 24 d Tongala 16.
Archie Webster, Wayne Bradley, Terry Boyer and Ian McKenzie crashed to a heavy defeat. At nine all after nine ends Tongala turned the screws, winning the next 10 ends to cruise to a comfortable victory. Tongala 23 d RSL 12.
Division Four played Lockington at Lockington.
RSL suffered their first defeat of the season. Each team had a rink win, but Lockington prevailed with a superior shots tally. Lockington 41 d RSL 36.
Jim Jennings’ team of Bruce Ferry, Neville Austin and Robyn Ferry took a while to shake off a determined Tongala side. Leading comfortably 20-9 after 17 ends RSL had no further joy, with their opponents taking the final four ends and six shots. RSL still held a comfortable buffer to record a good win. John Wilson, Graeme Gordon, Paul Connor and Sandra Hill were leading 12-8 after 12 ends but Lockington then mounted a decisive challenge, taking the next four ends and 11 shots to move into the lead. RSL faltered toward the end with Lockington taking the final three ends and seven shots for a solid victory. Lockington 26 d RSL 16.
