Cobram’s Kerry Baldacchino defeated Seymour’s Allison Hall in the Central Goulburn Murray Region State Singles Championship at Shepparton Park Bowls Club last Sunday.
In the semi-final Kerry defeated Jean Sprague from Rushworth 25-13 and then went on to defeat Allison Hall in the final 25-20.
Congratulations to Barooga Sports Ray Emerson on winning the Men’s Champion of Champions Singles also played last Sunday. Ray defeated Seymour’s Ray Hammond 25-13
These two will represent the Region at the Bowls Victoria State Championships which will be played at the Bendigo East Bowls Club in late April.
Home-and-away pennant matches have concluded with Cobram competing in the Friday division one and Saturday divisions one and two.
Friday’s division one side maintained second spot by defeating Barooga Sports 71-56 with two rinks and will play the qualifying final at Finley RSC next Friday.
Division two had the task of defeating Picola to remain in the four but unfortunately came up against a stronger team.
In Saturday pennant division one the two teams at the top of the ladder, Barooga Sports and Cobram, played each other, with Cobram successful by six shots, 93-87.
These two clubs will again play each other in the qualifying final at Wunghnu Bowls Club next Saturday.
Division two defeated Picola 103-76 and will play Berrigan in the elimination final at Numurkah Golf.
Division three lost to Barooga Sports but avoided relegation.
Division four defeated Strathmerton 39-34, just missing the four by eight points.

Saturday pennant finals, March 3
Division one at Wunghnu: Barooga Sports v Cobram, Numurkah Golf v Finley RSC.
Division two at Numurkah Golf: Strathmerton v Barooga Sports (2), Cobram (2) v Berrigan.
Division three at Numurkah: Finley v Tocumwal Golf (2), Finley RSC (2) v Barooga Sports (3).
Division four at Picola: Numurkah (3) v Barooga Sports (4), Katandra (2) v Finley (3).
These are the venues the club will be playing at in the first round of pennant finals.
Four teams will play finals, which is a fantastic effort from all concerned. The club wishes all bowlers the best of bowling for the finals and hopes they can achieve some great wins for the club.
Last Saturday saw division one and division two lose but divisions three and four had great wins.
Conditions on Saturday were difficult but everyone had to play under them. But in the case of division one and two, the opposition handled it better.
This week at a different ground the results can change.
Ray Emerson won the regional singles Champion of Champions final at Shepparton Park, defeating Max Hammond from Seymour 25-13. It was a fantastic effort and Ray now goes on to play in the Bowls Victoria State Championships at Bendigo in April. Congratulations Ray.
Keith’s Friday had 20 people enjoying a social game of three bowl pairs and the winners were Max Condron and Ray Wright with +15 with Gerald Rothe and visitor Ursula Andersen finishing runners-up with +10.
Best first game went to Gavan Cullen and Bob Thatcher with +15 and Ken Newton and Ray Emerson won best second game with +9.
