Hill Top Ladies Open Championship was played on Friday with players coming from around the district.

Hill Top was grateful for the welcome sponsorship of this event by Décor Blitz.

Sandy Millett from Mooroopna Golf Club won the championship with 86 strokes, making it the 10th time she has won this event.

The handicap winners and runners-up in both grades were Hill Top members, obviously with a distinct advantage.

Division 1 winner was Jan Coe 74 nett, with runner-up Robyn Downs 75 nett. Deb Reilly won division 2 with 74 nett from Chris Coleman 75 nett on count-back.

Pennant: Summer 4BBB pennant commenced last Monday, where Hill Top played Valley View on their home course, which proved a difficult task as the girls drew one match to lose 4½ to ½. Hill Top hosted pennant yesterday with the Hill Top team enjoying the bye.

Dot Britt from Kialla Golf Club drove onto the third green, with a nearest-to-the-pin a chance, but was ecstatic as she saw it disappear into the hole, scoring her very first hole-in-one. Congratulations, Dot.

Francie Mark scored a nearest-to-the-pin on the 14th hole.

Veterans’ event winner was Robyn Downs with 75 nett.

The team of Sandy Millett, Robyn Downs and Jan Coe took out the teams event.

Ball winners: Dot Britt 75, Jill Pinner, Mavis Birrell, Jenny Cannon 76, Marg Jacobson, Pat Serra and Sheryl Curran 77 nett.

The ladies were treated to a delicious lunch and to finish the day two lucky players took home the generous raffle prizes.

Wednesday’s event: Stableford, sponsored by Sabac on High, Shepparton.

Nine-hole competition: back nine.
